Favorite 2nd wave/2 Tone Artist

Once again, there were no topics, and I felt obligated to start one.

What is your favorite 2nd wave/2 Tone artist/band?
I'm going to say The Selecter. Pauline Black's voice is the perfect sort of weird for ska music.

Feel free to vote in the poll.

Haha, okay I'm just gonna hit up all these polls that you made.
I went with Madness this time. The Selecter, The Specials, The BodySnatchers, Bad Manners, etc. are all amazing bands. But Madness really opened my eyes to ska.
When I was first getting into ska, I only knew the third wave bands. But I was in Israel one summer and I went into a music store and asked if they had any ska, expecting third wave. The guy showed me Madness... And that was that.

Thank you again for responding! That's a good story, my friend. I feel like my polls actually accomplished something now.

The Beat "Just can't stop it" really defined Ska for me ... Specials as well. Madness, Bad Manners .. party bands. fun, but I couldn't take as seriously. And top underrated second-wave band, for me: the Selecter. I never seem to hear them any more ...

The Selecter is my favorite second wave band! I'm glad you like them too. I think it's because I found a best of the Selecter CD at the bottom of a discount bin at some music store and got it for $5 or so. I listened to that CD a lot. I had never really appreciated older ska until then.
