Site News Audio & Video page updates! CDs added to Ska Shop.

After working on this for about 6 months now I have finally gotten everything working. The Audio and Video on the site is now played in a popup player. Click the Play link on the audio page and the Picture or Title on the video page and the player will open. Any clicks after that will add the tracks to the bottom of the media players playlist. You can then scroll through your choices, play them at random and more.
I have also added 4 cds that I have to the Ska Shop. Make forum posts and info submissions to get Skallars to buy these items.

I was made aware of some errors while registering for the site and making requests on the radio. These problems have been fixed.
Members can now submit Audio & Video via the submissions page.
Upon approval of any submissions users will now receive Skallars to use in our new Ska Shop. I will be adding items to the shop soon and will include all kinds of items, including SkaFreaks.com stickers, CDs, Shirts, and show tickets. Help build up the site and get some free Ska stuff!

ALRIGHT! SkaFreaks is back up in full force. Everything should be working 100% now. If you have any problems with anything on the site please send me some feedback so I can get it all fixed.
The Radio is back up and running and I have a big update of tracks coming next week.
The Submissions and Edits are now working 100%. I was updating parts of all of them over the past couple weeks, and they are now up to date and ready for info. Anything that was submitted the within the week before the site went down has been lost. So if you made a submission please try it again. I will next be working on adding more submission and update links in more places so more people will see them and we can get more stuff in. Then I will be working on additional submission pages for pictures, shows, audio & video.

Site News Lot's Of Stuff Going On!

HELLO SKAFREAKS!
There is a lot going on here and I have been working my butt off to get all this working. First, our first ever radio show mostly a success last night. We had some problems with the server shutting down part way through the show but got things back up and finished the show. It was a great night full of music by Gimp, Catch 22, B.O.T.A.R., Streetlight Manifesto and solo acoustic Tomas Kalnoky.
I also updated the layout of the main page within the artists section. When you view an artist, things are slightly different. I also updated the updates page for the artists page. Next I will be working on the discs page and getting an update on that.
I have also added a point system (Skallars) to the site and am working on implementing it. For everything you do on the site you will receive Skallars, and I hope to get a store setup so you can then purchase things using your points.

Come join us on SkaFreaks Radio for 'A Night Of Tomas Kalnoky'. This is the first of a plan of future shows to take place every Monday night. The show will start at 6pm central time and will consist of every studio release Tomas has been a part of, plus some bonus acoustic tracks at the end. Starting with Gimp we will play Smiles For Macavity, then onto Catch 22 with Rules Of The Game and Keasbey Nights, followed by BOTAR with the A Call To Arms EP, then Streetlight Manifesto's Demo, Everything Goes Numb, Keasbey Nights and Somewhere In The Between, and the show will be ended with 3 unreleased acoustic tracks by Tomas. Hope you can join us. If this show is a success we plan to have much more in the future.

First Happy New Year! SkaFreaks in some way or form has now been around for over 8 years. Going into the new year and discovering the growing popularity of the radio station, I have decided for now, to make it my main focus. The site itself will be pushed to the back burner and the radio will be put in the microwave. I will be spending every chance I have finding and reviewing music to add to the station. We have gone from a small station broadcasting ska to 2-3 people at a time to the largest ska station in existence. We are now pulling an average of over 20 listeners at a time and hit a high peak of 35 this past week. The word is spreading and with us pushing the word in more ways this coming year it is expected to spread even more.

I just added a bunch of Bad Manners tracks to the radio. I have also decided, even though some of Streetlight Manifestos tracks aren't ska, that I wanted to up all of their tracks. Radio News Requests For Guests, Looser Playlist Rules & Weighted Playing

Since our station is now being listed on Itunes we have decided to open things up a little bit for site guests. Guests will now be able to request 5 songs every hour on the station. Being a member still has it's benefits, as members have unlimited requests. So anyone first visiting us please feel free to control the station and play what you want to hear. Make A Request.
We have also loosened up the rules on how often an artist or track can be played. The same artist can now be played every 30 minutes and the same track every 2 hours.
Another addition is weighted tracks. Every track on our playlist has a rating. Every time you request a song that rating goes up and the song gets played more. Every time a song is played the rating goes down and it is then played less. So go request your favorite songs and get them playing more.

We have just updated SkaFreaks TV. We were having some problems with the script used for the tv and the amount of videos being handle slowing things down. That has now been fixed! We also set up a queue with videos in it and list the upcoming videos. This is also the first step to getting tv requests working. We also have a couple hundred new tracks getting set to be added to the radio.

I have updated the Picture Gallery. It is now working great and you can check out Pictures, Logos, Disc Covers, and Show Flyers in the Picture Gallery. I will be adding another update soon that lets you select to view one or all of the types of images.
I have also been hard at work adding info for The Slackers to the site. As the band of the month they are my main focus. I have added a full discography, lyrics for many of their songs, pictures and more. I am working through their music collection and will have updated audio and videos soon as well.

After being on the air (most of the time) for about 7 years now, I am sad to say that SkaFreaks Radio will be going offline, possibly for good. Things in my life are changing and due to these things I will not be able to host the station any longer. I have enjoyed broadcasting Ska to the world, and I hope all of you have enjoyed listening to the station. Sometime in the future I may revisit the possibility of a new station, but that would be at least a year away. SkaFreaks.com will still remain up and 100% active, just the radio will be going down.
